5th Grade Patriotic Bench Project winners!

Every year the 5th graders at Home School compete for 3 spots on the Stickney/Forest View Fire Department bench. All the staff and students vote on the 5th graders patriotic-themed designs and the top 3 winners get to paint their designs on the bench which will be displayed outside the Fire Department for the following year. Keith Haring carving fun!

Third graders learned about Keith Haring's life and work. Keith Haring was a street artist whose artwork was large-scale, fun and colorful and inspired by Keith's interests like hip-hop, break dancing, cartoons and Dr. Seuss. Students created their own Keith Haring inspired designs and carved them into tooling foil, finishing their designs off with bright colored sharpie markers and black lines tracing all of their shapes.

Gung Hay Fat Choy! Happy Chinese New Year!

We learned about Chinese New Year traditions and 2nd graders created their own dragon for the celebration using a Cray Pas watercolor resist technique. We learned that this year, 2014, is the year of the horse and 3rd graders created banners using Chinese calligraphy.

Hooray for the Square 1 Art Fundraiser!

All students have completed their artwork for Square 1 Art! Whether it's handprint art, self portraits, fantasy, animals or under the sea themes you should expect to see your student's art on some great stickers soon! The stickers are yours to keep and then you can decide whether you want to order other great items with your student's artwork on them. 

Personalized packets and stickers will get sent home at the beginning of March and all orders are due Wednesday March 19th. Ordering online is quick, secure and easy!
